'American Idol' 2012 recap: Top 4 blow minds while California dreamin'
NJ.com - Television &bull May 10, 2012
As this season's "American Idol" finale draws near, the final four contestants each needed a moment of unparalleled greatness. Each needed a show-stopping, mind-blowing performance to propel them into the Top 3 and onto superstardom's doorstep. Would they pass their almost-final test? Singing songs from California artists in the first half of the show and songs that "they wish they'd written" in the second half, Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez all delivered the goods as they continue to blur the line between this week's weak link and a contender for the title. I like Phillip. And… Full Story »

'The Voice' recap: arriving too late
NJ.com - Television &bull May 1, 2012
Monday's semifinals marked the first time we've seen every team in full share the same episode. And you know what? The final eight were great. Outstanding even. These top eight have the talent to rival that of American Idol or X Factor. Part of me wants to apologize to The Voice. Maybe I was overcritical of Battle Rounds that started with 48 contestants and a live show that began with 24. At the same time, I want to be critical again. The top eight gave us magic and next week this will all be over. Selfishly I want to see… Full Story »

NJ.com - Television &bull Apr 28, 2012
Last week, she got to meet Brian May from Queen, and, before that, Stevie Nicks, who praised her talent. Still, when asked what she's learned from the experience, she doesn't hold back. At 28, Testone, who grew up in Kinnelon, was the oldest competitor left. She's been among the "bottom" vote-getters more than once, however, so the elimination… Full Story »

'The Voice' recap: Team Creepy rises to the top
NJ.com - Television &bull Apr 24, 2012
I wish I could give you sarcastic and snarky, but Monday gave us perhaps the best vocal performances top to bottom that we've seen on an episode this season. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. The show started off with all four judges looking so positively giddy, I thought they might still be stoned from 4-20. Eventually, we were led to deduce that their snickers were due to someone farting (?!) on the coaching panel. They each pulled out fans and everything as host Carson Daly screamed, "Focus." Stay classy guys. The instant elimination was also… Full Story »
